Idye color remover removes color. Surprise, surprise, surprise! That's right, we are all about the unexpected around here. Use this little packet of color remover to remove color, lighten color, or brighten whites. It's like a bleach, but not. It takes out iDye, and you can test it on other dyes as well. One small packet of iDye color remover will treat 2-3 pounds of fabric.

FIVE SIMPLE STEPS:

  1. Fill a stainless steel, aluminum, or enamel pot with just enough water for the fabric to move freely. Turn on a medium to high heat.
  2. Add the iDye Color Remover soluble packet to water and stir.
  3. Add garments and raise temperature.
For cotton, wool and silk bring temperature to just below a simmer.
For polyester bring to just below a boil. Please Note that anything over a 50/50 poly blend will have less and less a chance to remove color as stronger measures are needed for the color removal of poly fabrics.
  4. Maintain temperature and stir frequently for 10 to 20 minutes, or until color has left as desired.
  5. Wash the garment with a mild detergent and dry.

Note: not all dyes are fully susceptible to color removal. Results may vary. Test first whenever possible - not all fabrics will go back to being white.

Previously this product contained Thiourea dioxide, the formula was changed to include Sodium Hydrosulfite instead.

This product did remove most of the color from the wool knit item I used it on but it took a long time. I had to boil the item for about an hour to get most of the color out. There was a tinge of color left but for my purpose that was OK. I am not sure I would have ever gotten the item to come out white. Fortunately I intended to felt the item later after redying it because it was partly felted by the time I took it out of the dye remover process. The dye remover does smell pretty bad when it is boiling. However I am not complaining because this is about the only way I can use this wool yarn I have (the color is too awful to use as is) and this particular yarn has many other good qualities so I want to use it. Hence dye removal.

I used this to lighten a beige lambswool sweater in preparation for over-dying with forest green acid dye. It removed enough beige that the green turned out a lovely sage color. And the garment remained soft.

Worked reasonably well in my effort to lighten an overdye that was too dark. I used on hand-spun merinoalpaca plied yarn. Was pleased that it didn't ruin the fiber.

Didn't work as well as I had wanted on the wool coating material I used it on. It turned it a weird shade of green but it was light enough I was able to over dye it to a shade I was planning on anyway.

I hate to leave a negative comment but I feel this product should be removed from Dharma. It doesn't work at all. I followed the directions closely and only had one shirt... absolutely no color came out. I already had RIT at home so I made a batch of it and it worked like a charm. So disappointed.
